Hot off the monitor

Our long national nightmare is over.

Just saw an AP news flash: Lance Armstrong is returning to the Tour de France next year to race with the Astana team. Astana includes among its members Armstrong's former (and now defunct) Discovery team members Levi Leipheimer and Alberto Contador. who won the tour in 2007, two years after Armstrong retired.

Wonder how Contador feels about this news?

Oh, Astana also has Johan Bruyneel, the guy who ramrodded Armstrong through his seven Tour victories, as the sports director (the guy in charge).

According to MSNBC, "The seven-time Tour de France winner will race in the Amgen Tour of California, Paris-Nice, the Tour de Georgia, the Dauphine-Libere and the Tour de France — for no salary or bonuses."

Yeah, that last part caught my eye. Is Lance just bored? Bored enough to punish himself for a year for free?

Well, all I can say is good luck and enjoy the ride.

That is kind of bizarre- I guess he makes more than enough from endorsements and stuff?

Liv, maybe he just likes the comradship of the peleton?

Or crushing the spirits of his fellow riders. Either one works.
